Real estate commission calculator
Real estate commissions are negotiable and are not set by law. The seller agrees on the listing-side fee in the listing agreement, and buyer-side compensation is agreed in writing with the buyer's agent. As an example, a 2.5% listing-side fee on a $900,000 sale comes to $22,500.

What to keep in mind when reading the result
- The rates in the calculator are examples. The fee you agree on is written into your listing or buyer agreement.
- Who pays the buyer-side fee is negotiated. A seller may offer to cover it, or the buyer may pay it directly.
- Escrow, title insurance, transfer taxes and loan costs are not included; see the FAQ for closing costs.
